The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6001139 is a taper shank drill bit designed for general-purpose metal drilling in machine shop and industrial environments. Built from high-speed steel with an oxide finish, it delivers reliable performance in drill presses and milling machines equipped with a No. 2 Morse taper spindle. The bit measures 3/4 inch in diameter with an overall length of 9.75 inches and a flute length of 5.875 inches. The 118-degree standard point with web thinning improves chip clearance and reduces walking at entry. Right-hand spiral flutes move chips efficiently out of the hole during cutting.
This bit is suited for production drilling and maintenance applications in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It is commonly used in machine shops, metal fabrication facilities, and industrial maintenance settings where a 2MT spindle interface is standard. The Series 209 design conforms to ANSI standards, making it a direct fit for shops sourcing to specification. Machinists and tool-room technicians are the primary installers and operators of this bit.
Designed for use in drill presses, lathes, and milling machines fitted with a No. 2 Morse taper (2MT) spindle or tailstock. Suitable for general-purpose drilling in a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials.
Installation requires a No. 2 Morse taper socket or directly compatible spindle. Ensure the machine spindle and taper shank are clean and free of chips or oil before seating the bit to ensure full contact and prevent slippage. Power down and lock out the machine before inserting or removing the bit. Use a drift key and soft mallet to eject the bit from the spindle — never strike the bit directly.
