The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6001099 is a taper shank drill bit designed for drilling large-diameter holes in metal and other hard materials. It features a 1.1024-inch (28.00 mm) cutting diameter with a 3MT (Morse Taper No. 3) shank, making it compatible with drill presses and lathes equipped with matching taper spindles. Constructed from high speed steel with an oxide finish, the bit offers solid wear resistance for general-purpose production and maintenance drilling applications. The 118-degree standard point angle and right-hand spiral flute geometry provide consistent chip evacuation and reliable hole entry. This bit is manufactured to DIN 345 standards and includes web thinning to reduce thrust requirements at the point.
This drill bit is suited for general-purpose drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics, and similar materials in shop, production, and field maintenance environments. The 3MT taper shank seats directly into matching taper spindles on drill presses, milling machines, and lathes without requiring a separate chuck. The 6-11/16-inch flute length supports deeper hole applications, and the regular spiral type maintains smooth chip flow during through-hole and blind-hole operations. Machinists, tool-and-die workers, and maintenance mechanics are the typical end users.
Designed for use in drill presses, lathes, and milling machines fitted with a No. 3 Morse Taper (3MT) spindle socket. Verify spindle taper designation before installation.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or maintenance mechanics familiar with taper shank tooling. Power down and lock out the machine before inserting or removing the taper shank. Clean both the shank and spindle socket of chips, oil, and debris before seating to ensure full taper contact and prevent runout. Use a drift key through the spindle slot to remove the bit - never strike the shank or flutes directly.
