The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000847 is a taper shank drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in metal, steel, and other hard materials. The bit features a 5/8 inch (0.625 inch) diameter, a 2MT (Morse Taper 2) shank for secure seating in compatible drill press spindles and lathe tailstocks, and a 135-degree notched point angle that reduces walking and improves self-centering on hard surfaces. The high speed steel construction with a gold oxide finish provides heat and wear resistance during extended drilling operations. This bit is intended for installation and use by machinists, toolroom technicians, and trade professionals working with drill presses or machines equipped with a Morse taper spindle.
This taper shank drill bit is suited for production and maintenance drilling in shop environments where a Morse Taper 2 spindle connection is standard. The 8.75 inch overall length and 4.875 inch spiral flute length accommodate moderate-depth holes in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Right-hand cutting direction makes it compatible with standard forward-rotation drilling equipment. The web-thinned notched point reduces thrust requirements and helps keep the bit on center without a pilot hole in many applications. The Series 209CO designation indicates ANSI-standard geometry throughout.
Designed for use in drill presses, milling machines, and lathe tailstocks equipped with a Morse Taper 2 (2MT) spindle socket. Conforms to ANSI standards for taper shank drill bit geometry.
Taper shank drill bits are installed by machinists and toolroom technicians into Morse Taper 2 spindle sockets; the taper should be clean and free of oil, burrs, or debris before seating. Power down and lock out the machine before inserting or removing the bit. Use a drift and drift slot to remove the bit safely — do not strike the spindle housing. Verify spindle speed is appropriate for the workpiece material and bit diameter before operation.
