The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000831 is a jobber-length twist drill bit designed for general-purpose hole-making in a wide range of materials. It measures 0.3071 inches in diameter with an overall length of 4.6063 inches and a flute length of 2.9528 inches. The bit is manufactured from high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish and features a standard 118-degree point angle. The straight-cylindrical shank and regular spiral flute geometry make this a workhorse drill for production and maintenance applications. The web-thinned, tapered web configuration reduces thrust requirements at the point. Licensed machinists, pipefitters, HVAC technicians, and electricians commonly reach for this type of bit during field and shop drilling operations.
This drill bit is suited for drilling into steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and other hard materials. The two-flute spiral design provides efficient chip evacuation during through-hole and blind-hole operations. Its DIN 338 specification and Series 2A classification make it a recognized standard for metric-referenced jobber-length tooling used in both residential and commercial trade applications. The 10xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports controlled drilling depth up to 2.9528 inches.
Designed for use in standard three-jaw drill chucks accepting a 0.3071-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium per material codes P, M, K, N, and S.
This bit is installed by a machinist, pipefitter, HVAC technician, or electrician using a standard keyed or keyless drill chuck. Secure the shank fully in the chuck before starting the spindle. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant when drilling stainless steel, superalloys, or titanium to extend tool life. Inspect the cutting edges for wear before each use and replace the bit if chipping or dullness is observed.
