The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000810 is a taper length straight-shank drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling across a wide range of materials. It measures 0.0787 inches in diameter with an overall length of 3.344 inches and a flute length of 2.219 inches. The bit is manufactured from high speed steel with a bright uncoated finish and features a standard 118-degree split point with a tapered web configuration and web thinning for improved penetration. Right-hand spiral flutes evacuate chips efficiently during through-hole and deep-hole drilling operations. Machinists, maintenance technicians, and fabricators install this bit in standard drill chucks and machining centers.
The 6000810 is suited for drilling alloy steel, carbon steel, stainless steel, cast iron, malleable iron, aluminum, aluminum alloy, brass, bronze, high strength bronze, copper, magnesium, magnesium alloy, nickel, nickel alloy, cermet, graphite, and reinforced plastic materials. Its 6xD flute-length-to-diameter ratio makes it appropriate for deeper holes than a jobber-length bit without requiring a longer overall reach. Typical applications include production drilling, maintenance and repair operations, and general shop work where a taper length geometry provides added rigidity and reduced deflection compared to jobber-length alternatives.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and general-use taper length drill bit conforming to DIN 340, compatible with standard straight-shank drill chucks accepting a 2 mm shank diameter. Suitable for use in benchtop drill presses, hand drills, and machining centers capable of accepting the straight shank.
Installation is performed by machinists or maintenance technicians using a standard keyed or keyless chuck sized to accept a 2 mm straight shank. Secure the shank fully into the chuck and verify concentricity before beginning the cut. Appropriate cutting fluid or lubricant is recommended when drilling ferrous materials to extend tool life and improve hole finish. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and remove the bit from service if chipping or dulling is observed.
