The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000766 is a 2.05 mm diameter jobber-length drill bit engineered for general-purpose drilling in steel and other metals. Built from cobalt high-speed steel with a straw-colored oxide finish, it delivers increased heat resistance and extended tool life in demanding applications. The 135-degree split point reduces walking at startup and lowers thrust force compared to a conventional 118-degree point. A web-thinned, tapered web configuration further reduces cutting resistance. The two-flute regular spiral design evacuates chips efficiently, and the straight cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks. This bit is suited for production and maintenance drilling where consistent hole quality in metal is required.
This drill bit is a fit for metal fabrication shops, mechanical contractors, pipefitters, electricians, and general maintenance trades that regularly drill into steel, cast iron, aluminum, and similar materials. The 2.05 mm diameter targets precision hole sizing in light-gauge steel, structural members, and equipment enclosures. With a 12xD flute-to-diameter ratio and an overall length of 1-59/64 inches, it is appropriate for benchtop drill presses, hand drills, and CNC machining centers requiring a short jobber-length bit. No coolant-through capability is required for typical use cases in this size range.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber drill bit suitable for use in standard three-jaw drill chucks on hand drills, drill presses, and CNC equipment. Primary workpiece material classifications include P, M, K, N, and S material codes, covering steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and heat-resistant alloys.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or trade professionals using appropriate drill press or hand-drill equipment. Secure the shank fully in the chuck and verify runout before drilling to prevent premature edge wear. Always wear appropriate eye protection and secure the workpiece before operation. For drilling into hardened or abrasive materials, use cutting fluid to manage heat buildup and maximize tool life.
