The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000723 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit sized at 4.80 mm (0.1890 inches) diameter, designed for heavy-duty drilling in steel and other ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built to DIN 338 and ANSI standards, it features a 135-degree split point with web thinning for fast penetration and reduced walking on entry. The straw oxide finish provides moderate lubricity and heat resistance. With an overall length of 3-25/64 inches (86.00 mm) and a flute length of 2-3/64 inches (52.00 mm), this bit fits standard jobber-length applications. It is a general-purpose heavy-duty tool suited for machinists, pipefitters, electricians, and HVAC technicians drilling pilot and clearance holes in structural steel and hardware.
The 6000723 is used across a wide range of trade and light industrial applications where accurate, repeatable holes in steel, cast iron, aluminum, and similar workpiece materials are required. The Series 2ACO cobalt construction makes it appropriate for harder steels and higher-temperature cutting conditions where standard high-speed steel bits lose edge retention. Typical install scenarios include drilling mounting holes for brackets, strut channel hardware, pipe hangers, electrical enclosures, and equipment supports. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard 3-jaw drill chucks on both corded drills and drill presses.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit compatible with any standard 3-jaw drill chuck accepting a 4.80 mm (0.1890 inch) straight cylindrical shank. Rated for primary workpiece material categories P, M, K, N, and S per ISO material classification, covering steels, stainless steels, cast irons, non-ferrous metals, and heat-resistant alloys.
Secure the straight shank firmly in a calibrated 3-jaw chuck before use and verify chuck key is removed prior to powering the drill. Use cutting fluid or coolant when drilling harder steels to extend tool life, noting that this bit is not configured for coolant-through delivery. Always wear appropriate eye protection and secure the workpiece before drilling. Disposal and handling of metal chips should follow applicable shop safety procedures.
