The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000692 is a cobalt high-speed steel jobber-length drill bit engineered for general-purpose drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. It measures 3.70 mm (0.1457 inches) in diameter with a 135-degree split point that reduces walking on contact and lowers thrust requirements. The overall length is 2-3/4 inches (70 mm) with a 1-17/32-inch flute length. An oxide and straw finish provides baseline lubricity and heat resistance. The web-thinned, tapered web construction improves chip evacuation and extends tool life in demanding applications. Cobalt content adds thermal hardness retention over standard HSS, making this bit suitable for harder steel grades and repetitive production runs.
This drill bit is suited for drilling steel, cast iron, aluminum, and comparable workpiece materials in light manufacturing, maintenance, and fabrication environments. It follows the DIN 338 specification and meets ANSI standards, making it appropriate for shops that work to dimensional tolerances. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks without additional tooling. With a 1xD flute-to-diameter ratio of 11xD, it handles moderate stack depths typical of jobber-length applications. Installation is performed by machinists, tool-and-die workers, and maintenance technicians.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit compatible with standard straight-shank drill chucks across benchtop drill presses, hand drills, and CNC drilling operations. Primary workpiece material codes P, M, K, N, and S indicate suitability for steel, stainless, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and heat-resistant alloys respectively.
Secure the straight cylindrical shank firmly in a properly sized drill chuck before operation, ensuring runout is within acceptable tolerance for the application. Power down and de-energize or lock out any machine before changing bits. Apply appropriate cutting fluid when drilling steel or harder alloys to manage heat and extend bit life. Do not exceed the bit's maximum drilling depth of 1.5354 inches in a single pass without retracting to clear chips.
