The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000627 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in steel and other metals. It measures 2.35 mm (0.0925 inches) in diameter with an overall length of 2-3/32 inches (2.0938 inches) and a flute length of 1-1/16 inches (1.0625 inches). The 135-degree split point reduces walking on contact and requires no center punch on most surfaces. The oxide and straw finish provides added lubricity and surface hardness. This bit is suited for machinists, maintenance technicians, and tool-room professionals working with production drilling setups or handheld operations.
The 6000627 is built to DIN 338 and ANSI standards, making it a reliable choice for through-hole and blind-hole drilling in steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous materials. The straight shank fits standard drill chucks without adapters. Its 11xD flute-to-diameter ratio and web-thinned point geometry support chip evacuation in deeper cuts. Typical applications include fabrication shops, maintenance and repair operations, and production environments where consistent hole quality in metallic workpieces is required.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber drill for use in standard three-jaw drill chucks accommodating straight-shank bits in the 0.0500 to 0.1000 inch (2.00 to 3.00 mm) diameter range. Compatible with bench drill presses, CNC machining centers, and handheld electric drills equipped with appropriate chuck capacity.
Installation is performed by machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with metalworking drill operations. Secure the straight shank fully in the chuck before operation and verify chuck tightening with a chuck key where applicable. Coolant-through capability is not supported on this bit, so external cutting fluid or oil is recommended when drilling ferrous materials to manage heat buildup. Inspect the cutting edges for wear before each use and replace the bit if chipping or excessive dulling is observed.
