The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000511 is a taper length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling across a wide range of materials in industrial and trade applications. Built from high speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, this bit features a 118-degree standard point angle, a web-thinned tapered web configuration, and a right-hand spiral flute. It measures 0.3937 inches in diameter with an overall length of 7.25 inches and a flute length of 4.75 inches. The straight shank diameter matches the cutting diameter at 0.3937 inches, making it compatible with standard drill chucks. This bit is suited for machinists, tool-and-die tradespeople, and maintenance technicians working in shop or field environments.
This taper length drill bit is intended for use where a longer reach than a jobber-length bit is required without stepping up to a full extra-length bit. The Series 5ATL design conforms to DIN 340 standards. Its extended flute-to-diameter ratio of 6xD supports deeper hole drilling in a broad range of materials. Typical applications include structural fabrication shops, machine shops, and maintenance facilities where drilling into alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, brass, bronze, copper, nickel alloys, and reinforced plastics is routine.
Designed as an OEM-style general-purpose taper length drill bit suitable for use with standard three-jaw drill chucks accepting a 0.3937-inch straight shank. Compatible materials include alloy steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, brass, bronze, carbon steel, cast iron, cermet, copper, graphite, hardened steel, high strength bronze, magnesium, magnesium alloy, malleable iron, nickel, nickel alloy, reinforced plastic materials, and stainless steel.
Installation is performed by machinists or maintenance technicians using a drill press, milling machine, or hand-held drill with an appropriate chuck capacity. Ensure the shank is fully seated and the chuck is tightened securely before operation. Always wear appropriate eye protection and secure the workpiece before drilling. Follow applicable shop safety standards and equipment manufacturer guidelines for spindle speed and feed rate selection based on material type and hole depth.
