The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000424 is a reduced shank cobalt drill bit designed for demanding metal drilling applications. It measures 43/64 inch (0.6719 inch) in diameter with a 1/2 inch straight-cylindrical shank, allowing it to fit standard 1/2 inch chucks while drilling larger-diameter holes. The bit runs 6 inches overall with a 3 inch flute length and features a 118-degree split point for fast, self-centering starts on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Bright, uncoated cobalt construction provides heat resistance for tough materials without the need for a coating. Cutting direction is right-hand, and the spiral flute type is regular. This bit is part of the R56CO series and weighs approximately 0.5 pounds.
This bit is suited for production and maintenance drilling in ferrous metals as the primary target material. Secondary compatible workpiece materials include aluminum, cermet, copper, magnesium, nickel, synthetic materials, and titanium. The reduced shank design is a practical choice when a larger drill diameter is needed but the available chuck capacity is limited to 1/2 inch. Typical users include machinists, pipefitters, HVAC fabricators, and maintenance technicians working in shop or field environments where heavy-gauge metal drilling is routine.
Designed for use in ferrous metals as the primary workpiece material, with secondary compatibility for aluminum, copper, magnesium, nickel, cermet, synthetic, and titanium materials. Fits any drill press, mag drill, or hand drill equipped with a 1/2 inch or larger chuck. Conforms to ANSI standards.
This bit is installed and operated by machinists, pipefitters, or qualified maintenance technicians. Secure the reduced shank firmly in a 1/2 inch chuck before use and verify the bit is fully seated to prevent slippage under load. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the target material when recommended by shop procedure, even though this bit does not have an internal coolant channel. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use and replace if the split point shows damage.
