The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000366 is a taper length, high speed steel (HSS) drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling across a wide range of materials. It measures 0.7031 inches (45/64 inch) in diameter with an overall length of 9.5 inches and a flute length of 5.625 inches. The 118-degree standard point angle and web-thinned, tapered web configuration reduce entry resistance and improve chip clearance. The bright, uncoated finish keeps the surface in its natural HSS state, which suits applications where coating buildup would interfere with tolerances. Machinists, maintenance technicians, and fabricators rely on this bit for production and job-site work where a longer reach is needed beyond what a jobber-length bit provides.
This drill bit is suited for use in drill presses, lathes, and hand-held drilling equipment where a straight shank is required. The taper length body gives additional reach into deep holes without requiring an extension. The right-hand spiral flute design evacuates chips consistently during through-hole and blind-hole operations. Typical applications include structural fabrication shops, maintenance facilities, and trade work involving metal framing, pipe, and mechanical assemblies. Compatible materials include alloy steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, brass, bronze, carbon steel, cast iron, copper, graphite, hardened steel, high strength bronze, magnesium, magnesium alloy, malleable iron, nickel, nickel alloy, reinforced plastic materials, and stainless steel.
Designed as an OEM-style general-purpose taper length drill bit in Series R51, compatible with standard straight-shank drill chucks on drill presses, lathes, and hand-held power tools accepting a 0.7031-inch shank diameter.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist or experienced technician familiar with drilling operations. Secure the shank fully in the chuck and verify runout before beginning the cut. Power down and lock out the machine before changing bits or clearing chip buildup. Do not exceed the speed and feed recommendations for the workpiece material and bit diameter.
