The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000364 is a reduced shank cobalt drill bit built for demanding metalworking applications. It measures 17/32 inches (0.5312 inches decimal) in cutting diameter with a 1/2 inch straight-cylindrical shank, allowing it to fit standard 1/2 inch chucks without modification. The 118-degree split point provides fast, self-centering starts on ferrous metals and reduces walking on hard surfaces. At 6 inches overall length with a 3 inch flute length, this bit suits a range of bench drill press and hand drill setups. Cobalt construction with a bright uncoated finish delivers heat resistance and edge retention when drilling through tough materials. It is part of the Series R56CO line and cuts in a right-hand direction.
This drill bit is intended for trade and industrial use where consistent hole quality in metal is required. Primary workpiece material is ferrous metal. Secondary compatible materials include aluminum, copper, magnesium, nickel, titanium, cermet, and synthetic materials. Typical applications include mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical rough-in work where accurate holes are needed in steel plate, angle iron, unistrut, and similar structural metals. The reduced shank design makes it practical for tradespeople who carry a standard 1/2 inch drill rather than a full-set indexing chuck.
Designed for use in any 1/2 inch keyed or keyless drill chuck. Suitable for drill presses, magnetic base drills, and heavy-duty hand drills. Compatible workpiece materials include ferrous metals, aluminum, copper, magnesium, nickel, titanium, cermet, and synthetic materials per Series R56CO specifications.
This bit is installed and operated by machinists, pipefitters, electricians, and general trades using standard drill equipment. Secure the shank fully in the chuck before operation and verify chuck key is removed before starting the drill. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant when drilling hard ferrous stock to extend bit life, even though the bit itself does not require coolant. Follow all applicable OSHA and shop safety requirements for rotating tool use, including eye protection and secure workpiece fixturing.
