The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000356 is a reduced shank cobalt drill bit designed for drilling into ferrous metals and a wide range of secondary materials including aluminum, copper, nickel, titanium, and magnesium. It features a 15/16 inch (0.9375 inch) cutting diameter with a 1/2 inch straight-cylindrical shank, allowing it to chuck into standard 1/2 inch drill chucks despite the larger bit diameter. The 118-degree split point promotes self-centering and reduces walking on entry. The bright, uncoated finish is appropriate for general-purpose metalworking applications. This bit is installed and used by machinists, maintenance technicians, and trade professionals working with structural and fabricated metal assemblies.
The 6000356 is suited for drilling ferrous metal as its primary application, with rated capability across aluminum, cermet, copper, magnesium, nickel, synthetic materials, and titanium. The reduced shank design makes it practical for use in drill presses, milling machines, and portable equipment where a full 15/16 inch shank chuck capacity is not available. The Series R56CO designation places it within PRECISION TWIST DRILL cobalt reduced shank line. It conforms to ANSI standards and is configured for right-hand cutting with a regular spiral flute geometry. Maximum drilling depth is 3 inches, matching the 3 inch flute length.
Rated for use in ferrous metal as the primary workpiece material. Secondary compatible materials include aluminum, cermet, copper, magnesium, nickel, synthetic materials, and titanium. The reduced shank configuration is intended for setups where a full-diameter shank cannot be accommodated.
This bit is installed in a drill press, milling machine, or handheld drill by machinists or maintenance technicians. Secure the 1/2 inch shank firmly in the chuck before operation and verify the chuck key is removed before starting. Always wear appropriate eye protection when drilling metal. The manufacturer does not specify coolant use for this bit, but dry cutting practices appropriate to the workpiece material should be followed per shop standards.
