The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000347 is a reduced shank cobalt drill bit designed for drilling into ferrous metals and a wide range of secondary materials including aluminum, copper, nickel, titanium, and synthetic materials. The bit features a 1 inch cutting diameter paired with a 1/2 inch straight-cylindrical shank, allowing it to run in standard 1/2 inch chucks without requiring a larger spindle. At 6 inches overall length with a 3 inch flute length, it provides enough reach for deep-hole applications while maintaining rigidity. The 118-degree split point promotes accurate starts and reduces walking on flat surfaces. Cobalt construction handles elevated heat without losing hardness, making it a reliable choice for production drilling and maintenance work.
This bit is suited for metalworking applications in fabrication shops, HVAC mechanical rooms, plumbing rough-in, and industrial maintenance environments. The reduced shank design is particularly useful when a full 1 inch shank chuck is unavailable and a standard 1/2 inch drill or drill press is the tool on hand. Right-hand spiral flutes evacuate chips efficiently during through-hole and blind-hole drilling in both thin and thick stock. The Series R56CO designation identifies this as part of PRECISION TWIST DRILL's cobalt reduced-shank line.
Designed for use in ferrous metal, aluminum, copper, magnesium, nickel, titanium, cermet, and synthetic workpiece materials. Fits any 1/2 inch capacity drill chuck. Part of the PRECISION TWIST DRILL Series R56CO reduced shank cobalt line.
This bit is installed and operated by machinists, maintenance technicians, pipefitters, and HVAC mechanics using drill presses, magnetic drills, or heavy-duty hand drills. Secure the 1/2 inch shank firmly in the chuck and verify runout before drilling. Use appropriate cutting fluid for ferrous metals to extend bit life, even though the bit carries no internal coolant channel. Disconnect or lock out power to any drill press before changing bits or adjusting depth stops.
