The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000313 is a taper length, straight shank drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling across a wide range of materials. It carries a Letter P designation (0.3230 inches diameter) and is manufactured from high speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish. The 118-degree standard point angle provides reliable centering on entry without requiring a pilot hole in most applications. The web-thinned, tapered web configuration reduces thrust and improves chip evacuation. At 6.5 inches overall length with a 4.125-inch spiral flute, this bit suits deeper hole applications where a jobber-length bit falls short. It is part of Precision Twist Drill Series R55 and conforms to ANSI standards.
This drill bit is suited for use in metal fabrication shops, maintenance and repair operations, and general industrial settings. Its taper length geometry makes it the appropriate choice when drilling into deeper stock or when extra reach is needed beyond what a standard jobber bit provides. The right-hand spiral flute handles a broad material range, making it a practical single-tool choice for work cells running mixed materials. It is sold individually (Pkg Qty 1) and is appropriate for use in manual drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held electric drills with proper chucking capacity.
This bit is compatible with drilling into alloy steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, brass, bronze, carbon steel, cast iron, cermet, copper, graphite, hardened steel, high strength bronze, magnesium, magnesium alloy, malleable iron, nickel, nickel alloy, reinforced plastic materials, and stainless steel as stated by the manufacturer.
This bit should be installed by a machinist or qualified operator using a drill press, milling machine, or hand drill with a chuck rated for the 0.3230-inch shank diameter. Secure the shank fully in the chuck before powering the machine. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant when drilling harder alloys or stainless steel to preserve tool life, noting that this bit does not have coolant-through capability. Follow applicable shop safety practices and machine-specific operating procedures when changing or seating bits.
