The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000306 is an extra-length high-speed steel (HSS) drill bit designed for deep-hole drilling applications where standard-length bits fall short. Built to ANSI standards, this Series 1813 bit measures 18 inches overall with a 13-inch spiral flute and a 3/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank. The 118-degree standard point with web thinning reduces thrust and improves centering at entry. Right-hand cutting direction and a tapered web configuration make this bit well suited for production and maintenance drilling in metals and engineered materials. Licensed trades and industrial machinists rely on this type of bit when boring through structural members, frames, or assemblies that require reach beyond a jobber-length tool.
This drill bit is rated for use in aluminum, magnesium, copper, nickel, synthetic, and titanium as primary workpiece materials. Secondary materials include stainless steel, hardened steel, nickel alloys, malleable iron, high-strength bronze, magnesium alloy, and reinforced plastics. The uncoated bright finish makes it a general-purpose option across a wide range of shop and field applications. It is a practical choice for HVAC fabricators, pipefitters, electricians, and industrial maintenance technicians who need extended reach for through-drilling structural components.
Designed for use in standard 3/8-inch capacity drill chucks on corded drills, drill presses, and magnetic base drills. The straight-cylindrical shank is compatible with any chuck accepting a 3/8-inch shank diameter. Suitable for general-purpose drilling in aluminum, magnesium, copper, nickel, synthetic, titanium, stainless steel, hardened steel, nickel alloys, malleable iron, high-strength bronze, and reinforced plastics.
Secure the shank firmly in a properly sized chuck before operation and verify the bit runs true with minimal runout. Always wear eye protection and use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant when drilling hard or abrasive materials to extend bit life. For deep-hole applications, periodically retract the bit to clear chips and prevent flute packing. De-energize or lock out any power tool before inserting or removing the bit.
