The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000281 is an extra-length high-speed steel drill bit designed for deep-hole drilling applications where standard-length bits cannot reach. Measuring 18 inches overall with a 13-inch spiral flute and a 7/16-inch diameter, this bit delivers extended reach without sacrificing rigidity. The 118-degree standard point angle provides a reliable entry geometry for a wide range of metalworking and fabrication tasks. A bright, uncoated finish makes it easy to inspect flute condition and sharpness. Web-thinned construction at the tip reduces thrust and improves chip ejection during drilling. Licensed tradespeople and machinists working in fabrication, mechanical, or industrial service environments rely on this format for through-drilling thick stock and structural members.
This bit is suited for drilling aluminum, magnesium, copper, nickel, titanium, stainless steel, malleable iron, hardened steel, high-strength bronze, nickel alloys, and reinforced plastics. The 18-inch overall length makes it particularly useful when accessing deep cavities, long tube sections, or structural assemblies that cannot be repositioned for shorter tooling. Right-hand cutting direction and a regular spiral flute are standard for conventional drill press, mill, or hand-drill operation. The Series 1813 designation indicates an ANSI general-purpose extra-length format commonly specified in metal fabrication, HVAC equipment manufacturing, and mechanical contracting shops.
Rated for primary use in aluminum, magnesium, copper, nickel, synthetic materials, and titanium. Secondary materials include hardened steel, high-strength bronze, magnesium alloy, malleable iron, nickel alloy, reinforced plastics, stainless steel, and steel. Fits any standard chuck accepting a 7/16-inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Install in a drill press, milling machine, or heavy-duty hand drill with a chuck rated for 7/16-inch shanks. Secure the workpiece firmly before drilling to prevent walking on entry. Apply cutting fluid appropriate to the workpiece material to manage heat and extend bit life, especially when drilling stainless steel or nickel alloys. Inspect flutes for wear or chip packing after each deep-hole pass and clear chips regularly to prevent binding.
