The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000276 is a taper length, straight-shank drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling across a wide range of materials. Built from high speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, it features a 118-degree standard point angle and a right-hand spiral flute that clears chips efficiently during through-hole and deep drilling operations. At 9/32 inch (0.2812 inches) in diameter and 6-1/4 inches in overall length, the extended taper length body provides greater reach than a jobber-length bit without sacrificing rigidity. The web-thinned, tapered web configuration reduces thrust and improves centering on entry. This bit is sized and configured for use by machinists, maintenance mechanics, and metal fabricators working in production and repair environments.
The 6000276 is suited for drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics, and composite materials. Designed as a general-purpose taper length drill bit compatible with any standard drill press, milling machine, or handheld drill with a chuck capacity of 9/32 inch or larger. Suitable for drilling alloy steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, brass, bronze, carbon steel, cast iron, copper, graphite, hardened steel, high strength bronze, magnesium, magnesium alloy, malleable iron, nickel, nickel alloy, reinforced plastic materials, stainless steel, and cermet.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist or maintenance technician familiar with rotating tool safety. Secure the workpiece firmly before drilling and verify chuck runout is within acceptable limits to avoid bit deflection. Power down the drill press or disconnect the tool before changing bits. Apply appropriate cutting fluid for ferrous metals and hardened materials to extend tool life and maintain hole quality.
