The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000267 is a taper length, straight-shank drill bit designed for general-purpose hole-making across a wide range of materials. Manufactured from high speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, this bit features a standard 118-degree split point and a web-thinned, tapered web configuration for improved chip evacuation and reduced thrust. The spiral flute with a 6xD flute-to-diameter ratio delivers extended reach compared to jobber-length bits, making it well suited for deeper hole applications where a jobber length would fall short. It weighs approximately 0.04 pounds and is sold as a single unit.
This bit is built for right-hand cutting and fits standard drill chucks accepting a 0.1200-inch straight shank. It carries a wire gauge designation of number 31 and an overall length of 5.125 inches with a flute length of 2.75 inches. Machinists, maintenance mechanics, fabricators, and industrial tradespeople will find this bit suitable for production and repair drilling in both bench-top and hand-drill applications. The ANSI-standard geometry ensures consistent performance on CNC equipment and manual drill presses alike.
Compatible material applications include alloy steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, brass, bronze, carbon steel, cast iron, cermet, copper, graphite, hardened steel, high strength bronze, magnesium, magnesium alloy, malleable iron, nickel, nickel alloy, reinforced plastic materials, and stainless steel.
This bit is installed by machinists and maintenance tradespeople using a standard drill press, CNC machining center, or hand drill with a compatible chuck sized for a 0.1200-inch straight shank. Ensure the workpiece is securely clamped and the spindle speed is set appropriately for the material being drilled before starting. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use and replace the bit if the point geometry is compromised. Use cutting fluid when drilling ferrous metals to extend tool life and improve hole quality.
