The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000263 is a taper length, high speed steel drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling across a wide range of materials. It carries a 118-degree standard point angle with a web-thinned, tapered web configuration that helps reduce thrust and improve hole entry. The straight shank measures 0.2188 inches in diameter, and the overall length is 6 inches, giving it extended reach beyond a jobber-length bit without sacrificing rigidity. The spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation in right-hand cutting applications. This bit ships in a bright, uncoated finish and belongs to the Series R51 product line.
This drill bit is suited for use in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics, and composite materials. Compatible materials include alloy steel, carbon steel, stainless steel, cast iron, malleable iron, hardened steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, magnesium, magnesium alloy, brass, bronze, high strength bronze, copper, nickel, nickel alloy, cermet, graphite, and reinforced plastic materials. It is appropriate for machine shop, maintenance, and field drilling operations where a longer flute and extended reach are required. The 6xD flute-to-diameter ratio provides additional clearance in deeper bore applications.
Designed as a general-purpose taper length drill bit compatible with any standard drill chuck or machine spindle accepting a 0.2188 inch straight shank. Suitable for use in drill presses, CNC machines, lathes, and handheld power drills across maintenance, fabrication, and machine shop environments.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or tradespeople familiar with rotating cutting tools. Ensure the workpiece is securely clamped and the chuck is fully tightened before beginning any drilling operation. Always power down and de-energize the machine before inserting or removing the bit. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for ferrous materials to extend tool life and maintain dimensional accuracy, unless the machine setup prohibits it.
