The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000254 is a taper length twist drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling across a wide range of materials. Manufactured from high speed steel (HSS) with a bright/uncoated finish, it features a 118-degree standard point angle and a web-thinned, tapered web configuration that reduces thrust and improves chip evacuation. The bit measures 0.0310 inches (1/32 inch) in diameter with a 0.75-inch flute length and a 2-inch overall length. The straight shank and right-hand spiral flute make it compatible with standard drill chucks. This bit is suited for machinists, maintenance technicians, and trade professionals who require precision drilling in tight-tolerance applications.
The 6000254 is rated for drilling into a broad spectrum of materials including alloy steel, carbon steel, stainless steel, cast iron, malleable iron, aluminum, aluminum alloy, brass, bronze, high strength bronze, copper, nickel, nickel alloy, magnesium, magnesium alloy, hardened steel, graphite, cermet, and reinforced plastic materials. It is a solid choice for production drilling, maintenance and repair operations, and prototype work where a small-diameter, taper length drill is required. The Series R52 designation places it within Precision Twist Drill's general-purpose HSS product line.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and general-purpose drill bit for use in standard 3-jaw drill chucks and collets that accept a 1/32-inch straight shank. Part of the Precision Twist Drill Series R52 line.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or trade professionals following applicable shop safety procedures. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet before operating the drill press or hand drill. At small diameters like 0.0310 inches, use low feed pressure to prevent bit breakage, and ensure the workpiece is firmly clamped before beginning. Coolant-through is not supported on this bit; use appropriate cutting fluid applied externally when drilling harder materials.
