The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000251 is a taper length, high speed steel drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling across a wide range of materials. It features a 118-degree standard point angle, a bright/uncoated finish, and a right-hand spiral flute. At 59/64 inch (0.9219 inches) in diameter with a flute length of 6-1/8 inches and an overall length of 10-3/4 inches, this bit provides extended reach compared to jobber-length drills while maintaining rigidity. The straight shank and web-thinned, tapered web configuration support efficient chip evacuation and reduced feed pressure during drilling operations.
This drill bit is suited for metalworking and fabrication applications in both shop and field environments. Its taper length body makes it a practical choice when standard jobber bits lack the reach needed for deeper holes. Rated for general-purpose use, it performs reliably in drilling operations involving alloy steel, carbon steel, stainless steel, cast iron, malleable iron, aluminum, aluminum alloy, brass, bronze, high strength bronze, copper, magnesium, magnesium alloy, nickel, nickel alloy, cermet, graphite, and reinforced plastic materials. Machinists, fabricators, and maintenance technicians are the typical end users.
Designed as a general-purpose taper length drill bit for use in standard straight-shank drill chucks on drill presses, magnetic drills, and hand drills. Suitable for drilling alloy steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, brass, bronze, carbon steel, cast iron, cermet, copper, graphite, hardened steel, high strength bronze, magnesium, magnesium alloy, malleable iron, nickel, nickel alloy, reinforced plastic materials, and stainless steel.
Installation is performed by machinists or maintenance technicians using a standard keyed or keyless drill chuck sized to accept a 59/64 inch straight shank. Secure the shank fully into the chuck before operation and verify concentricity to avoid bit walk. Apply appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material, particularly when drilling stainless steel, nickel alloys, or hardened steel. Do not exceed the recommended feed rate or force the bit through hard material, as this can cause premature tip failure or bit breakage.
