The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000244 is a high-speed steel extra length drill bit designed for through-hole drilling in deep or hard-to-reach applications. Built to ANSI standards, it features a 3/16-inch diameter, a 118-degree standard point angle, and a 12-inch overall length with a 9-inch spiral flute. The web-thinned, tapered web design reduces cutting resistance and improves chip evacuation. The bright uncoated finish is suitable for general-purpose use across a broad range of workpiece materials. This bit is installed and used by machinists, maintenance technicians, HVAC fabricators, and electricians working on metal framing, piping, or enclosures where standard-length bits cannot reach.
This drill bit is engineered for use on aluminum, magnesium, copper, nickel, titanium, and synthetic materials as primary workpiece materials. Secondary applications include stainless steel, hardened steel, nickel alloys, malleable iron, high-strength bronze, magnesium alloys, and reinforced plastics. Its extended 12-inch length makes it well suited for deep-hole drilling through structural members, thick panels, or stacked material where a jobber-length bit would fall short. The straight cylindrical shank seats in standard drill chucks without adapters.
Designed as an OEM-style general-purpose extra length drill bit compatible with any standard drill chuck or drill press accepting a 3/16-inch straight cylindrical shank. Rated for drilling aluminum, magnesium, copper, nickel, titanium, stainless steel, hardened steel, malleable iron, nickel alloys, high-strength bronze, magnesium alloys, and reinforced plastics.
Install in a drill press, hand drill, or right-angle drill with a chuck rated for a 3/16-inch straight shank, and confirm the bit is fully seated and the chuck is tightened before operation. For best results in deep holes, retract the bit periodically to clear chips and prevent heat buildup, especially when drilling stainless steel or hardened materials. Always wear appropriate eye protection and secure the workpiece. When drilling into energized enclosures or live systems, de-energize and lock out the circuit in accordance with applicable NFPA 70E procedures before beginning work.
