The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000235 is a taper length, high speed steel drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling across a wide range of materials. It carries a wire gauge size of 30, equal to a decimal diameter of 0.1285 inches, with a standard 118-degree split-point angle and a web-thinned, tapered web configuration for improved centering and reduced thrust. The 3-inch spiral flute and 5.375-inch overall length give it extended reach compared to a jobber-length bit, making it well suited for deeper hole applications where a standard length bit falls short. The bright, uncoated finish is appropriate for general machining environments. Licensed HVAC, plumbing, and electrical contractors as well as machinists and fabricators are the primary installers of this bit.
The 6000235 is a Series R52 taper length drill bit intended for drilling in a broad spectrum of materials including alloy steel, carbon steel, stainless steel, cast iron, malleable iron, hardened steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, brass, bronze, high strength bronze, copper, magnesium, magnesium alloy, nickel, nickel alloy, cermet, graphite, and reinforced plastic materials. Its right-hand spiral flute and straight shank make it compatible with standard drill chucks and rotary drilling equipment found in most shop and field environments. The 6xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports chip evacuation in moderate-depth holes without coolant-through capability.
Designed as a general-purpose taper length drill bit compatible with standard straight-shank drill chucks and rotary drilling equipment. Suitable for use in alloy steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, brass, bronze, carbon steel, cast iron, cermet, copper, graphite, hardened steel, high strength bronze, magnesium, magnesium alloy, malleable iron, nickel, nickel alloy, reinforced plastic materials, and stainless steel per manufacturer specification.
Install this bit into a properly sized straight-shank chuck and tighten securely before operation. Ensure the drill press or handheld drill is powered off and unplugged before changing bits. Use appropriate cutting fluid or lubricant when drilling ferrous metals to extend bit life and improve hole quality, even though this bit does not have coolant-through capability. Dispose of metal chips safely and inspect the cutting edges for wear after use on hardened or abrasive materials.
