The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000206 is a taper length drill bit engineered for general-purpose drilling across a wide range of metals and industrial materials. Measuring 0.0550 inches in diameter (wire size #54), this bit features a 118-degree standard point angle and is manufactured from high speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish. The overall length is 3 inches, with a spiral flute length of 1.75 inches, delivering a 6xD flute-to-diameter ratio that provides excellent chip evacuation in deeper holes. The web-thinned, tapered web configuration reduces entry resistance and improves center accuracy. Licensed machinists, tool and die technicians, and precision fabricators use this bit in both manual and CNC drilling setups.
The 6000206 is suited for drilling into alloy steel, carbon steel, stainless steel, cast iron, malleable iron, aluminum, aluminum alloy, brass, bronze, high strength bronze, copper, nickel, nickel alloy, magnesium, magnesium alloy, cermet, graphite, and reinforced plastic materials. Its right-hand spiral flute and straight shank make it compatible with standard drill chucks in bench drills, drill presses, and hand-held power tools. The Series R52 designation identifies it within PRECISION TWIST DRILL's general-purpose HSS taper length line, conforming to ANSI standards.
Designed as a general-purpose taper length drill bit compatible with standard straight-shank drill chucks. Suitable for use in drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held power tools accepting straight shank tooling of 0.0550 inches diameter.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or trade professionals familiar with cutting tool safety protocols. Ensure the drill chuck is fully tightened and the workpiece is securely clamped before initiating a cut. Power down the machine and confirm all moving parts have stopped before changing or inspecting the bit. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for the material being drilled when extended run times or heat buildup are expected.
