The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000196 is an extra-length high-speed steel drill bit designed for deep-hole drilling applications where standard-length bits fall short. It measures 0.4062 inches in diameter with a 12-inch overall length and a 9-inch spiral flute length, giving technicians and machinists the reach needed to work through thick stock or deep bores. The 118-degree standard point and web-thinned tip reduce thrust and improve chip evacuation on entry. The bright, uncoated finish makes the bit well-suited for use with cutting fluids in ferrous and non-ferrous material applications. This bit is a general-purpose tool installed by machinists, millwrights, and fabricators in production and maintenance settings.
The 6000196 is built for use on a wide range of workpiece materials including aluminum, magnesium, copper, nickel, titanium, stainless steel, malleable iron, nickel alloys, hardened steel, high-strength bronze, and reinforced plastics. The 12xD flute-to-diameter ratio makes it appropriate for applications requiring deep penetration relative to bit diameter. It is suited to drill press, milling machine, and hand-held power tool use where a straight-cylindrical shank is compatible. The right-hand cutting direction and regular spiral type are standard for the majority of rotating spindle equipment.
Designed as an OEM-style general-purpose extra-length drill bit compatible with standard drill chucks and collets accepting a straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials include aluminum, magnesium, copper, nickel, titanium, stainless steel, malleable iron, nickel alloys, hardened steel, high-strength bronze, and reinforced plastics.
Install and secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully in a keyed or keyless drill chuck before operation. Ensure the spindle is stopped and power is isolated before changing bits. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for the workpiece material to extend bit life and improve chip clearance. Follow applicable shop safety standards and manufacturer speed-and-feed guidelines for the material being drilled.
