The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000150 is a 90-degree spotting drill designed to create accurate center marks and starting points for follow-on drilling operations. Manufactured from high speed steel with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it delivers extended tool life and reduced friction at the cutting edge. The drill measures 3.125 inches overall length with a 1.125-inch flute length and a 0.375-inch straight cylindrical shank. The two-flute spiral design promotes chip clearance and consistent entry-angle accuracy. It is a single-ended, right-hand cut tool suited for general purpose metal fabrication and machining work.
This spotting drill is used in machine shop, production, and maintenance environments wherever a precise, flat-bottomed pilot spot is required before drilling, countersinking, or counterboring. The 90-degree point angle is a widely accepted standard for spotting operations on CNC machining centers, knee mills, and drill presses. It is appropriate for use on steel, aluminum, cast iron, and similar ferrous and non-ferrous materials in both job shop and production settings.
Designed as a general purpose spotting drill for use in standard drill chucks and collet systems accepting a 0.375-inch straight shank; part of the PRECISION TWIST DRILL SPSG-90 series.
Installation and use of this tool should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Secure the shank fully in a properly sized chuck or collet and verify runout before operation. Power down and de-energize the machine spindle before tool changes. Follow machine manufacturer guidelines for speed and feed selection appropriate to the workpiece material.
