The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000131 is a reduced shank twist drill bit engineered for general-purpose drilling in ferrous metals and a wide range of secondary materials. The bit features a 1-7/8 inch cutting diameter with a 3/4 inch straight-cylindrical shank, making it compatible with standard drill chucks without requiring a large-bore spindle. The 118-degree standard point angle provides a self-centering entry suited to common metalworking applications. At 6 inches overall length with a 3-inch flute length, this bit handles moderate-depth drilling tasks efficiently. It is manufactured from high speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish and is part of the Series R58 line.
This bit is intended for trade and industrial use where a large-diameter hole is required but the available machine spindle accepts only a 3/4 inch shank. Typical applications include HVAC duct fabrication, mechanical rough-in, structural steel drilling, and general shop work. The right-hand spiral flute design clears chips effectively during through-hole drilling in ferrous metal, aluminum, copper, magnesium, nickel, titanium, and synthetic materials. The reduced shank configuration extends the range of machines that can run a 1-7/8 inch bit without a Morse taper or large-capacity chuck.
Designed as an OEM-style general-purpose reduced shank drill bit compatible with drill presses, milling machines, and magnetic drills equipped with a 3/4 inch or larger chuck capacity. Suitable for ferrous metal, aluminum, copper, magnesium, nickel, titanium, and synthetic workpiece materials per Series R58 application guidelines.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or trade professionals familiar with drill press and rotary tool operation. Secure the 3/4 inch shank fully in the chuck before operation and verify chuck key is removed prior to powering the machine. Use appropriate cutting fluid for ferrous and hard non-ferrous materials to extend tool life and reduce heat buildup. Follow applicable shop safety codes and wear ANSI-rated eye protection during all drilling operations.
