The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000121 is a taper length, straight-shank drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling across a wide range of materials. Built from high speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, it carries a 118-degree standard drill point angle and a web-thinned, tapered web configuration that reduces entry force and improves centering. The flute length runs 3 inches with a 6xD flute-to-diameter ratio, and the overall length is 5-3/8 inches. Wire size 28 corresponds to a decimal diameter of 0.1405 inches. Right-hand spiral flutes clear chips efficiently during operation. This bit is suited for trade professionals, machinists, and maintenance technicians who need a reliable general-purpose bit without specialty coatings.
The 6000121 is rated for use across a broad material range including alloy steel, carbon steel, stainless steel, cast iron, malleable iron, hardened steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, brass, bronze, high strength bronze, copper, nickel, nickel alloy, magnesium, magnesium alloy, graphite, cermet, and reinforced plastic materials. It is appropriate for light production, maintenance, and repair drilling in shop, field, or industrial settings. The straight shank accommodates standard drill chucks without adapters.
Designed as a general-purpose taper length drill bit in the Series R52 line, compatible with any standard drill chuck accepting a 0.1405-inch straight shank. No coolant-through capability; external cutting fluid application is recommended when drilling ferrous or hardened materials.
Install in a drill press, hand drill, or CNC spindle with a chuck rated for the 0.1405-inch shank diameter; ensure the shank is fully seated and the chuck is tightened securely before operation. Secure the workpiece with clamps or a vise before drilling to prevent movement. Apply cutting fluid when working with ferrous metals, stainless steel, or hardened materials to extend bit life and improve finish. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use and replace the bit if the point shows visible damage.
