The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000106 is a high-speed steel extra length drill bit designed for deep-hole drilling applications that standard-length bits cannot reach. With a 0.4688-inch diameter, an 8-inch overall length, and a 6-inch spiral flute, this bit gives tradespeople the reach needed to drill through thick stock, structural members, and deep assemblies. The 118-degree standard point angle combined with a web-thinned tip reduces walking on entry and lowers thrust requirements. The bright uncoated finish keeps the surface visible during use and suits a wide range of materials. This is a right-hand cutting, general purpose bit suited for professional drilling operations in metalworking and fabrication environments.
This extra length bit is well suited for metalworking shops, HVAC fabricators, pipefitters, plumbers, and electricians who regularly need to drill through deep material stacks, wall assemblies, structural steel, or thick pipe flanges. The Series 860 designation places it in a recognized line of general-purpose HSS drilling tools. Primary workpiece materials include aluminum, magnesium, copper, nickel, synthetic materials, and titanium. Secondary materials include stainless steel, hardened steel, malleable iron, nickel alloys, high-strength bronze, and reinforced plastics. The straight-cylindrical shank seats directly in standard three-jaw drill chucks without adapters.
Designed for use in standard three-jaw drill chucks accepting a 0.4687-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Compatible with a broad range of primary workpiece materials including aluminum, magnesium, copper, nickel, synthetic materials, and titanium, as well as secondary materials such as stainless steel, hardened steel, malleable iron, nickel alloys, high-strength bronze, and reinforced plastics.
Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a three-jaw drill chuck before use and verify the bit runs true before engaging the workpiece. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for the specific workpiece material, particularly when drilling stainless steel or high-strength alloys, to extend tool life and maintain dimensional accuracy. Always wear appropriate eye protection and secure the workpiece before drilling. Follow applicable shop safety standards and equipment manufacturer guidelines for spindle speed selection based on material and diameter.
