The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000083 is a reduced shank twist drill bit engineered for general-purpose drilling in ferrous metals, aluminum, copper, nickel, titanium, and other common workpiece materials. The bit features a 1-15/16 inch cutting diameter paired with a 3/4 inch straight-cylindrical shank, allowing it to seat in standard drill chucks even when drilling oversized holes. The 118-degree standard point angle suits a wide range of materials without requiring a specialty grind. Manufactured from high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, this bit is a reliable production and maintenance shop tool for machinists, pipefitters, and general metalworking trades.
This drill bit is suited for drilling large-diameter holes in structural steel, plate, pipe flanges, and fabricated assemblies where a reduced shank allows a conventional 3/4 inch chuck to hold a full 1-15/16 inch diameter bit. The right-hand cut and regular spiral flute promote efficient chip evacuation during through-hole operations. It is appropriate for both manual drill press work and fixed-spindle machine tool applications in industrial and commercial settings. The Series R58 designation identifies it within the PRECISION TWIST DRILL product line for replacement and reorder purposes.
Designed as a general-purpose reduced shank drill bit compatible with drill presses and machine tools equipped with a 3/4 inch chuck or collet. Suitable for ferrous metals, aluminum, copper, magnesium, nickel, synthetic materials, and titanium per Series R58 material application ratings. Conforms to ANSI standards.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist or trained trade professional. Secure the reduced shank fully in the chuck before operation and verify the chuck key is removed before spindle engagement. Power down and de-energize the drill press or machine tool before changing bits. Do not exceed the recommended feed rate for the workpiece material, and use coolant or cutting fluid as appropriate for the material being drilled — this bit does not include an internal coolant channel.
