The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000047 is a reduced shank drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in ferrous metals, aluminum, copper, titanium, magnesium, nickel, and synthetic materials. The bit measures 35/64 inch (0.5469 inch decimal) in cutting diameter with a 1/2-inch Weldon flat shank, allowing secure tool holding in chucks equipped for flat-shank engagement. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, it features a standard 118-degree point angle and a right-hand spiral flute geometry suited to a wide range of production and maintenance drilling applications. Licensed tradespeople and machinists install this bit in standard and CNC-ready drill setups.
This bit is suited for use in hand-held drill motors, drill presses, and machining centers where a reduced shank allows a larger cutting diameter to be driven through a 1/2-inch chuck. The 3-inch flute length supports drilling to a maximum depth of 3 inches, and the 6-inch overall length provides adequate clearance in most fixture setups. Applications include structural fabrication, HVAC bracket and sheet-metal work, plumbing rough-in, and general metalworking where hole accuracy and clean entry are required in ferrous and non-ferrous stock.
Designed as an OEM-style general-purpose reduced shank drill bit compatible with 1/2-inch Weldon flat shank tool holders, drill chucks, and machining center collets rated for 1/2-inch shank tooling. Conforms to ANSI standards.
Install and remove this bit only with the drill motor or machine fully powered off and locked out per applicable safety procedures. Secure the Weldon flat shank fully in the chuck or tool holder, engaging all flat-contact surfaces to prevent slippage under load. Verify spindle speed is appropriate for the workpiece material and bit diameter before starting the cut. Apply cutting fluid to the workpiece when drilling hard ferrous metals or deep-hole applications to extend bit life and improve hole finish.
