The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000026 is a reduced shank twist drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in metal fabrication and maintenance applications. It features a 53/64-inch (0.8281-inch decimal) drill diameter paired with a 1/2-inch Weldon shank, allowing it to run in standard 1/2-inch chuck equipment while boring a larger hole diameter. The bit is manufactured from high speed steel (HSS) with a bright/uncoated finish and ground to a 118-degree standard point angle. Overall length is 6 inches with a 3-inch flute length. Licensed trades and skilled metalworkers use this style of bit where a reduced shank is needed to fit common drill drivers or magnetic drill equipment.
This drill bit is suited for drilling ferrous metals as its primary application, and is also rated for secondary workpiece materials including aluminum, copper, magnesium, nickel, titanium, and synthetic materials. The right-hand spiral flute geometry and regular spiral type make it a reliable general-purpose choice for production shops, maintenance facilities, and fabrication environments. It conforms to ANSI standards and is part of the Series R57 product line from PRECISION TWIST DRILL.
Designed as a general-purpose reduced shank drill bit compatible with 1/2-inch capacity drill chucks and magnetic drill press equipment. Primary workpiece material is ferrous metal; secondary materials include aluminum, cermet, copper, magnesium, nickel, synthetic, and titanium per supplier specifications.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or tradespeople familiar with drill press, handheld drill, or magnetic base drill operation. Secure the Weldon shank fully into the chuck and engage the set screw against one of the three flats before operation to prevent rotation under load. Always wear appropriate eye protection and ensure the workpiece is properly clamped or fixtured before drilling. Do not exceed the drill press or drill motor rated capacity for bit diameter.
