The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 6000007 is a reduced shank cobalt drill bit designed for drilling into ferrous metals, aluminum, titanium, nickel alloys, and other demanding materials. It features a 9/16 inch cutting diameter with a reduced 1/2 inch straight-cylindrical shank, allowing it to fit standard 1/2 inch chucks without requiring a larger chuck size. The 118-degree split point geometry promotes fast penetration and accurate starting without a center punch. With a 6 inch overall length and 3 inch flute length, this bit is suited for medium-depth drilling applications. Machinists, maintenance technicians, and metalworking professionals use this bit for production and maintenance drilling on steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous alloys.
This drill bit is intended for use in stationary drill presses, milling machines, and hand-held power drills equipped with 1/2 inch chucks. It is well suited for industrial maintenance, fabrication shops, and field service work where a range of workpiece materials must be drilled. The Series R56CO designation identifies it within Precision Twist Drill's cobalt reduced-shank line, optimized for harder and more abrasive materials where standard high-speed steel bits wear prematurely. Right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional drill press and handheld use.
Designed for use with drill presses, milling machines, and power drills fitted with 1/2 inch chucks. Suitable for drilling ferrous metals, aluminum, copper, magnesium, nickel, titanium, cermet, and synthetic materials per the R56CO series application ratings.
Install and remove this bit only while the drill press or tool is fully powered down and the chuck is stationary. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in the chuck and verify runout before drilling production parts. Machinists should follow applicable shop safety procedures and ANSI standards when operating drill presses or handheld power tools. Avoid exceeding the 3 inch maximum drilling depth to prevent chip packing and bit deflection.
