The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5999977 is a cobalt-grade, jobber-length drill bit designed for high-speed steel cutting applications in demanding trade and industrial environments. It is sized to wire gauge 50, equivalent to 0.0700 inches in diameter, with a 135-degree split-point geometry that reduces walking on contact and lowers thrust requirements. The 2-inch overall length and straight cylindrical shank make it compatible with standard drill chucks across a wide range of equipment. A two-flute, spiral regular configuration clears chips efficiently, and the oxide bronze finish adds a layer of surface protection during extended use.
This drill bit is suited for drilling through steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium, covering workpiece material codes P, M, K, N, and S under NAS 907 classification. It is a general-purpose tool appropriate for precision production drilling, maintenance and repair operations, and fabrication work where small-diameter, tight-tolerance holes are required. The 7xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports maximum drilling depth of 0.5 inches. Machinists, millwrights, and maintenance technicians in industrial facilities are the primary users.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and general-purpose jobber-length drill bit for use in standard straight-shank drill chucks across handheld, bench, and machine-mounted drilling equipment compatible with 0.0700-inch shank diameters.
This bit should be installed by machinists or qualified maintenance technicians familiar with small-diameter tooling. Ensure the drill chuck is fully tightened and the shank is seated completely before operation to prevent slippage. At this diameter, bit breakage risk increases with excessive feed pressure or lateral loading, so controlled, steady feed rates are essential. Disconnect or de-energize all equipment before changing tooling.
