The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5999875 is a 9/16 inch (0.5625 inches) diameter extra length high speed steel drill bit designed for deep-hole drilling applications in metalworking and fabrication environments. It features a 118-degree standard point angle with web thinning and a tapered web configuration, which reduces the thrust needed to start the cut and improves chip clearance. At 15 inches overall length with an 11-inch spiral flute, this bit reaches depths that standard-length drills cannot. It is uncoated HSS construction suited for right-hand cutting in a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Machinists, toolroom technicians, and industrial maintenance professionals are the primary users.
This extra length drill bit is built for production and maintenance drilling where depth of penetration is a requirement. It is well suited for drilling through thick stock, deep bosses, structural members, and workpieces that cannot be repositioned easily. Primary workpiece materials include aluminum, magnesium, copper, nickel, titanium, and synthetic materials. It also performs in secondary applications involving stainless steel, hardened steel, malleable iron, nickel alloys, high strength bronze, and reinforced plastics. The straight-cylindrical shank accepts standard drill chucks on drill presses, CNC machines, and magnetic-base drills.
Designed as a general-purpose extra length drill bit compatible with standard drill chucks accepting a 0.5625 inch straight-cylindrical shank, suitable for use on drill presses, milling machines, CNC machining centers, and hand-held magnetic-base drill units.
Installation of this bit requires a drill chuck or collet sized to accept a 9/16 inch straight shank. Secure the shank fully in the chuck and verify runout before beginning the cut. Always power down and lock out the machine before changing tooling. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for the workpiece material to extend tool life, particularly when drilling ferrous alloys or stainless steel.
