The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5999840 is a high speed steel extra length drill bit designed for deep-hole drilling applications where standard-length bits cannot reach. The bit measures 0.6094 inches in diameter with a 12-inch overall length and a 9-inch flute length, giving machinists and fabricators extended reach without sacrificing rigidity. The 118-degree standard point angle and web-thinned tip reduce entry thrust and improve chip evacuation on initial engagement. The uncoated HSS construction makes it suitable for a wide range of metalworking and industrial drilling tasks.
This Series 1290 extra length drill bit is intended for use in machining, fabrication, and maintenance environments where deep-hole drilling is required. The right-hand spiral flute with regular helix and tapered web configuration handles both ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Primary workpiece materials include aluminum, magnesium, copper, nickel, and titanium. Secondary workpiece materials include stainless steel, hardened steel, nickel alloy, malleable iron, high strength bronze, magnesium alloy, reinforced plastics, and general steel. The straight-cylindrical shank seats in standard drill chucks and collet systems without adapters.
Designed for use on aluminum, magnesium, copper, nickel, synthetic, and titanium as primary workpiece materials, with secondary compatibility covering stainless steel, hardened steel, nickel alloy, malleable iron, high strength bronze, magnesium alloy, reinforced plastic materials, and general steel. Fits any drill press, CNC machining center, or handheld drill with a chuck or collet sized for a 0.6094-inch straight-cylindrical shank.
This bit is installed and operated by machinists, tool and die technicians, and maintenance mechanics. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully in the chuck or collet before operation and verify runout is within acceptable limits. Select appropriate cutting speed and feed rate for the workpiece material and use cutting fluid where the material and operation require it. Inspect the cutting edges and web for wear or chipping before each use and recondition or replace the bit when point geometry degrades.
