The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5999820 is a high speed steel extra length drill bit designed for deep-hole drilling applications where standard-length bits cannot reach. Measuring 0.6875 inches in diameter with a 15-inch overall length and an 11-inch flute length, this Series 1511 bit handles demanding material removal across a wide range of metals and synthetics. The 118-degree standard point angle and web-thinned, tapered web construction reduce entry force and improve chip evacuation. Right-hand spiral flutes in a regular helix pattern move chips efficiently out of the hole. Licensed tradespeople and machining professionals working on structural fabrication, maintenance, or production drilling installs will find this bit suited to extended-reach work.
This extra length bit is built for applications requiring deep penetration into aluminum, magnesium, copper, nickel, titanium, stainless steel, hardened steel, nickel alloys, malleable iron, reinforced plastics, and high-strength bronze. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks and collets. At 15 inches OAL, it covers deep-access drilling tasks in mechanical, HVAC, plumbing rough-in, and general fabrication scenarios where standard jobber-length bits fall short. The uncoated HSS construction makes it easy to resharpen in the field.
Designed for use in standard drill chucks and collets accepting an 11/16-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Compatible primary workpiece materials include aluminum, magnesium, copper, nickel, synthetic materials, and titanium. Secondary workpiece materials include hardened steel, high-strength bronze, magnesium alloy, malleable iron, nickel alloy, reinforced plastics, stainless steel, and steel.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or tradespeople familiar with drill press, hand drill, or magnetic drill operation. Secure the workpiece firmly before drilling and ensure the chuck is fully tightened on the shank. Reduce spindle speed and increase feed pressure progressively for harder secondary materials such as stainless steel or hardened steel. Do not force the bit or run at excessive speed, as this will reduce tool life and risk bit breakage in deep-hole applications.
