The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5999815 is a cobalt jobber length drill bit sized to wire gauge No. 30, equivalent to 0.1285 inches in diameter. It features a 135-degree split-point tip geometry and a web-thinned, tapered web construction that reduces walking and lowers thrust when starting holes. The spiral flute design promotes chip evacuation, and the oxide and bronze finish helps reduce heat buildup during cutting. At 2.75 inches overall length with a 15/16-inch flute length, this bit is proportioned for standard jobber-length drilling tasks. It is intended for installation by machinists, maintenance technicians, and trade professionals working in metal fabrication, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical trades.
This drill bit is rated for use on a broad range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. Its high-speed steel cobalt composition provides the elevated heat resistance needed when drilling harder alloys and stainless grades that would quickly dull conventional HSS tooling. Typical applications include chassis drilling, pipe fitting prep, sheet metal work, and general-purpose through-hole drilling in production or field environments. It is designed for use in standard drill presses, hand drills, and CNC drilling equipment with straight-shank collets or chucks.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber length drill bit compatible with any standard drill press, hand drill, or CNC spindle accepting a 0.1285-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for workpiece materials coded P, M, K, N, and S per ISO material classification, covering steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and superalloys.
Secure the shank fully in the chuck before drilling and confirm the work piece is clamped or fixtured to prevent rotation. When drilling stainless steel or superalloys, use cutting fluid or coolant to manage heat, as this bit is not configured for internal coolant through delivery. Follow applicable OSHA machine guarding and PPE requirements for rotating equipment. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and replace the bit if chipping or dulling is observed to maintain hole quality and prevent breakage.
