The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5999713 is a taper length, high speed steel drill bit designed for general-purpose hole-making across a wide range of materials. It measures 17/64 inch (0.2656 inches) in diameter with a 118-degree standard point angle and a bright, uncoated finish. The right-hand spiral flute geometry provides efficient chip evacuation, and the web-thinned, tapered web design reduces thrust at entry. With a flute length of 3-7/8 inches and an overall length of 6-1/4 inches, this bit offers extra reach compared to jobber-length drills without sacrificing rigidity. It is sold individually and suited for use by machinists, maintenance technicians, and industrial tradespeople.
This drill bit is intended for use in drill presses, lathes, milling machines, and handheld power drills where additional depth reach is required. The Series R51 designation places it in PRECISION TWIST DRILL's general-purpose taper-length line. Compatible material applications include alloy steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, brass, bronze, carbon steel, cast iron, copper, graphite, hardened steel, high strength bronze, magnesium, magnesium alloy, malleable iron, nickel, nickel alloy, reinforced plastic materials, and stainless steel.
Designed as a general-purpose taper-length drill bit compatible with standard straight-shank drill chucks. Suitable for drilling alloy steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, brass, bronze, carbon steel, cast iron, copper, graphite, hardened steel, high strength bronze, magnesium, magnesium alloy, malleable iron, nickel, nickel alloy, reinforced plastic materials, and stainless steel.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or experienced tradespeople following standard safe drilling practices. Secure the workpiece and ensure the chuck is fully tightened before operation. Reduce spindle speed and apply appropriate cutting fluid when drilling harder materials such as stainless or hardened steel to extend tool life. Inspect the cutting edges for wear before each use and replace the bit if the point shows chipping or dulling.
