The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5999671 is a cobalt high-speed steel jobber-length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in steel, cast iron, aluminum, non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys. It measures 1.70 mm in diameter with an overall length of 1.6875 inches and a 135-degree split point that reduces walking on contact and lowers thrust force at entry. The straw oxide finish provides light lubricity and heat resistance during operation. With a straight cylindrical shank and two regular-spiral flutes, this bit fits standard drill chucks and collets across a wide range of benchtop and handheld drilling equipment used by machinists and maintenance tradespeople.
This bit is suited for production and maintenance drilling applications where a small-diameter hole is required in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 12xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports consistent chip evacuation in jobber-depth holes. It carries DIN 338 and ANSI standards, making it appropriate for shops that specify dimensionally standardized tooling. Primary workpiece material codes P, M, K, N, and S indicate suitability across steel, stainless, cast iron, non-ferrous, and superalloy materials. It is sold individually but requires a minimum order of 12 units.
Designed as a standard jobber-length drill bit per DIN 338 and ANSI specifications, compatible with any drill chuck or collet system accepting a 1.70 mm straight cylindrical shank. Suitable for drilling workpiece material codes P (steel), M (stainless steel), K (cast iron), N (non-ferrous), and S (superalloys).
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist or maintenance technician familiar with small-diameter tooling. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet before operation and verify runout is within acceptable limits for the application. Disconnect and lock out all power to the drilling equipment before changing bits. Do not exceed the rated speed for the workpiece material and bit diameter, and use cutting fluid where required by the workpiece material to extend tool life.
