The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5999618 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in steel and other demanding workpiece materials. It measures 1.10 mm in diameter with an overall length of 1-27/64 inches (1.4219 inches) and a flute length of 35/64 inches (0.5469 inches). The 135-degree split point reduces walking at drill start and lowers thrust requirements compared to a standard 118-degree point. The oxide and straw coating provides mild lubricity and surface protection. This bit is built to a heavy-duty grade and conforms to DIN 338 and ANSI standards, making it a reliable choice for production or maintenance drilling work performed by machinists, tool-and-die trades, and industrial maintenance technicians.
This jobber drill bit is suited for drilling steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and similar materials in light to medium production environments. Its 13xD flute-to-diameter ratio and regular spiral flute geometry support chip evacuation in through-hole and short blind-hole applications. The straight cylindrical shank accepts standard drill chucks found on drill presses, CNC machining centers, and portable electric drills. The right-hand cutting direction and web-thinned, tapered web configuration make it appropriate for use in both manual and machine tool setups where small-diameter precision holes are required.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber drill for use with standard drill chucks on drill presses, portable electric drills, and CNC machining centers. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and similar materials coded P, M, K, N, and S per the input specifications.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with machine tool operation. Secure the straight shank fully in the drill chuck and verify concentricity before beginning a cut. Power down and de-energize any machine tool before changing bits or adjusting chuck pressure. Do not exceed the recommended maximum drilling depth of 0.5512 inches for this diameter to avoid flute packing and bit breakage.
