The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5999400 is a screw machine length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in demanding trade and industrial applications. It features a 0.5 inch diameter with a 135-degree split point and a web-thinned, tapered web configuration that reduces thrust and improves chip clearance at entry. The bit is manufactured from high speed steel with a coated finish for added wear resistance. At 3.75 inches overall length with a 2.25 inch spiral flute, it delivers a compact profile suited to close-clearance drilling. Right-hand cut with a straight-cylindrical shank, it fits standard drill chucks without adapters. Series R40C with a 2.5xD flute-to-diameter ratio. Meets ANSI and NAS 907 specifications.
This bit is rated for heavy-duty use and is designed with titanium as the primary listed workpiece material, making it a strong choice for machinists, pipefitters, and maintenance techs drilling into harder alloys and metals. The screw machine length format shortens the overall projection from the chuck, increasing rigidity and reducing deflection in tight or high-cycle operations. It is equally applicable in drill press, CNC, or hand-held power tool setups where a stubby, rigid profile is required. Coolant-through capability is not included in this design.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard drill bit for use in drill presses, CNC spindles, and hand-held power tools accepting a straight-cylindrical shank in 0.5 inch diameter. Primary listed workpiece material is titanium; suitable for other metals consistent with high speed steel tooling.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or trade professionals familiar with metal cutting operations. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully in the drill chuck and verify runout before beginning a cut. Power down and de-energize any machine tool before changing bits. Follow applicable ANSI safety standards and shop procedures for speeds, feeds, and personal protective equipment when drilling titanium or other hard alloys.
