The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5999267 is a jobber-length drill bit sized to Letter Z (0.4130 inches) for general-purpose drilling in metal and hard materials. Made from high speed steel with a steam oxide coating, it features a 118-degree standard point angle and a regular spiral, two-flute design that clears chips efficiently during through-hole and entry drilling. The straight-cylindrical shank seats directly in standard drill chucks without adapters. With a 3.875-inch flute length and 5.25-inch overall length, this bit covers typical jobber-depth applications across a wide range of industrial and trade settings. Web thinning at the tip reduces thrust and improves penetration on tougher workpieces.
This bit is built for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. It fits applications in fabrication shops, machine shops, and field service work where a reliable general-purpose jobber bit is needed. The Series R10-R15-R18 designation places it within a well-established line of ANSI-standard tooling. It is a single-piece, individual-quantity item suited for technicians and machinists who need a replacement or supplemental bit in the Letter Z size range. It is not designed for coolant-through applications.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit compatible with any standard drill press, hand drill, or milling machine equipped with a chuck sized for a 0.4130-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Rated for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium per supplier workpiece material designations P, M, K, N, and S.
Install and remove drill bits only when the drill press or hand tool is fully powered down and the chuck has stopped rotating. Secure the shank fully into the chuck and tighten with a chuck key before beginning operation. Use cutting fluid or appropriate lubricant when drilling stainless steel, superalloys, or titanium to extend tool life. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use; a damaged bit can wander off-center or fracture under load.
