The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5999228 is a jobber-length drill bit sized at No. 19 wire gauge, equivalent to 0.1660 inches in diameter. It is manufactured from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright uncoated finish and ground to a standard 118-degree split point. The two-flute, regular spiral design produces a right-hand cut suited to general-purpose drilling in a wide range of workpiece materials. The overall length is 3.25 inches with a 2.125-inch flute length, providing a 13xD depth-to-diameter ratio. A web-thinned, tapered web configuration reduces thrust during penetration. Licensed HVAC techs, plumbers, electricians, and other trade professionals install this bit for everyday metal-drilling tasks in the field or at the bench.
This bit is rated for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and other hard materials. It follows ISO material codes P, M, K, N, and S, covering the broadest range of common trade-shop and job-site workpiece materials. The straight-cylindrical shank diameter is 0.1660 inches, compatible with standard keyed and keyless chucks. It belongs to the Series R10P-R15P-R18P family and conforms to ANSI standards. Maximum drilling depth matches the flute length at 2.125 inches. This is a single-piece package sold in multiples of 12.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit compatible with any standard keyed or keyless drill chuck accepting a 0.1660-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Conforms to ANSI specification for jobber-length twist drills.
This bit is installed by any trade professional using a handheld drill driver, drill press, or magnetic drill. Secure the straight shank firmly in the chuck before operation and verify chuck tightness to prevent slippage. Run at a spindle speed appropriate for the workpiece material and bit diameter — higher speeds for non-ferrous metals, lower speeds for hardened steel and stainless. Coolant-through is not supported; use cutting fluid applied externally when drilling stainless steel, cast iron, or superalloys to extend edge life and control heat.
