The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5999212 is a wire gauge size 75 jobber length drill bit machined from high speed steel (HSS) with a bright uncoated finish. It measures 1 inch in overall length with a 0.25-inch flute length and a 0.021-inch diameter straight-cylindrical shank. The 118-degree standard point and two-flute spiral design deliver clean entry and efficient chip evacuation in a compact form factor suited for close-tolerance drilling. Web thinning reduces thrust force on entry. This bit is installed by machinists, tool and die technicians, and precision fabricators working on small-diameter bore applications in metalworking, electronics assembly, and general manufacturing environments.
The 5999212 is built for drilling operations in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. Its 12xD flute-to-diameter ratio and tapered web configuration make it well suited for through-hole and short blind-hole work in light-gauge and hardened workpiece materials. Maximum recommended drilling depth is 0.25 inches, consistent with its 0.25-inch flute length. The series R18P designation places it within the PRECISION TWIST DRILL R10P-R15P-R18P performance series, which targets general-purpose cutting across a broad range of workpiece materials.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber length drill bit compatible with standard drill chucks and collet systems accepting a 0.021-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for use in drill presses, CNC machining centers, and handheld pneumatic or electric drill drivers configured for small-diameter wire gauge bits. Part of the PRECISION TWIST DRILL R10P-R15P-R18P series.
Installation and use of small-diameter drill bits should be performed by qualified machinists or fabricators familiar with runout tolerances and feed-rate control for wire gauge tooling. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet and verify minimal runout before commencing a cut. Reduce feed pressure at breakthrough to prevent bit deflection or breakage in thin-section workpieces. Coolant through is not supported on this bit; apply cutting fluid externally when drilling stainless steel, superalloys, or titanium.
