The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5999183 is a jobber-length twist drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in a wide range of metalworking applications. The bit measures 0.0670 inches in diameter, corresponding to wire gauge size No. 51, with a 2-inch overall length and a 1-inch spiral flute length. Manufactured from high speed steel with a steam oxide coating, it features a 118-degree standard point angle and a right-hand spiral cut. Web thinning and a tapered web configuration reduce entry force and improve chip evacuation during drilling operations. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die workers, and maintenance technicians are the primary installers of this bit.
This drill bit is suited for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. The small 0.0670-inch diameter makes it appropriate for precision hole placement in tight-tolerance work, instrument panels, bracket fabrication, and general metal fabrication tasks. The straight-cylindrical shank accepts standard 3-jaw drill chucks on benchtop drill presses, hand drills, and CNC machining centers. It conforms to ANSI standards and meets NAS 907 specification requirements.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit compatible with any standard 3-jaw drill chuck that accepts a straight-cylindrical shank at 0.0670 inches diameter. Suitable for workpiece materials coded P, M, K, N, and S under ISO material classification, covering steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and superalloys.
Install in a calibrated drill chuck and verify the shank is fully seated and centered before operation. Secure the workpiece firmly to prevent movement during drilling. Use appropriate cutting fluid when drilling stainless steel, superalloys, or titanium to extend bit life and manage heat buildup. At this small diameter, avoid side-loading the bit, as lateral force will cause breakage.
