The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5999115 is a jobber-length drill bit in wire gauge size 48, equivalent to 0.0760 inches decimal diameter, designed for general-purpose drilling in a wide range of materials. Manufactured from high-speed steel with a steam oxide coating, this bit features a 118-degree standard point angle and a right-hand spiral flute configuration. It is built to ANSI standards and belongs to the Series R10-R15-R18 product family. With an overall length of 2 inches and a 1-inch flute length, it is suited for bench drilling operations requiring precision in small-diameter bore work. Licensed tradespeople and toolroom machinists are the primary installers and operators.
This bit is used in drilling applications across residential, commercial, and industrial settings wherever small-diameter holes are required. The 0.0760-inch diameter makes it appropriate for pilot holes, clearance holes, and detail work in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. It is a practical selection for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and metalworking trades that require consistent performance in wire-gauge sizing. The straight-cylindrical shank seats cleanly in standard drill chucks without requiring special tooling.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit compatible with standard drill chucks accepting a 0.0760-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium per workpiece material codes P, M, K, N, and S.
Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a drill chuck before operation and verify chuck key is removed prior to powering the tool. For best results in harder materials, use a cutting fluid or coolant applied to the workpiece, as this bit does not support coolant-through delivery. Operate at appropriate spindle speeds for the workpiece material and bit diameter to avoid heat buildup that can soften high-speed steel. Inspect the cutting edges for wear regularly and replace when point geometry is degraded to maintain hole accuracy.
