The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5999073 is a jobber-length drill bit sized to wire gauge No. 45, equal to 0.0820 inches in decimal form. It is manufactured from high speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish and a standard 118-degree point angle. The spiral flute geometry and web-thinned point reduce entry force and help clear chips efficiently. With an overall length of 2.125 inches and a flute length of 1.125 inches, this bit fits standard drill chucks via its straight cylindrical shank. It is a general-purpose tool intended for production and maintenance drilling applications performed by machinists, maintenance technicians, and tool-room professionals.
This drill bit is designed for use in a wide range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and other hard materials. It follows the ANSI standard specification and belongs to PRECISION TWIST DRILL Series R10P-R15P-R18P. Typical applications include precision hole-making in sheet metal, structural components, and machined parts where a wire-gauge size is specified by engineering or production drawings. The 14xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports drilling depths up to 1.125 inches without coolant-through capability.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit compatible with any standard drill press, hand drill, or CNC drilling setup that accepts a 0.0820-inch straight shank. Suitable for workpiece materials coded P, M, K, N, and S per ISO material classification.
This bit is installed by machinists or maintenance technicians using a standard chuck key or keyless chuck mechanism. Ensure the shank is fully seated and the chuck is tightened before operation. Select an appropriate cutting fluid or cutting oil for the workpiece material to extend tool life. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use and replace when point geometry degrades to prevent workpiece damage or bit breakage.
